Meet your coach

Robson Etuke Diamond doesn't teach theory he hasn't tested. He competes in Muay Thai himself — so every combination, every drill and every round he puts you through has been pressure-tested under the lights, in front of a crowd, with someone trying to take his head off.

He is a Muay Thai competitor, CPT / S&C coach, ISSA Strength and Conditioning certified, and a HYROX coach. He runs Muay Thai and boxing sessions at Unity Fitness Harbourfront and Triumph Muay Thai in Toronto, blending the traditional art — stance, teep, clinch, the eight limbs — with modern strength work, so you get faster, sharper and harder to hit at the same time.

First time in a gym or preparing for a bout, the standard is the same: show up, work hard, leave better than you came in.

Training activity

Pad work

Coach-held rounds that turn technique into sharp, repeatable combinations.

What it involves

Robson calls combinations and holds the pads while you work stance, guard, accuracy, timing, defence and clean returns. The pace builds as your technique settles.

Who it’s for
Every level. Beginners learn the striking pattern; experienced students sharpen speed, rhythm and decision-making.
What to expect
Short coached rounds, direct corrections and enough recovery to keep the work crisp rather than sloppy.

Training activity

Partner drills

Structured exchanges that build real timing without turning every round into a fight.

What it involves

You and a partner repeat specific attacks, defences and counters at an agreed pace. Each drill gives both people a clear role before the exchange becomes more reactive.

Who it’s for
Students who know the basic stance and strikes, with the intensity adjusted to experience.
What to expect
Technical repetitions, controlled contact, partner rotation and coaching on distance, timing and safe defence.

Training activity

Footwork

Movement that keeps your stance organised while you create angles and control range.

What it involves

You practise stepping, advancing, retreating, pivoting and resetting without crossing your feet or losing your guard. The patterns then connect to strikes and defence.

Who it’s for
Everyone—from first-day students building balance to fighters refining ring position.
What to expect
Simple movement patterns first, then coached rounds where your feet have to stay underneath your combinations.

Training activity

Coordination

Patterns that connect your eyes, feet, guard and strikes into one controlled movement.

What it involves

Progressive movement and striking sequences teach your body to stay balanced while different limbs work together. The goal is smooth, repeatable mechanics—not rushed complexity.

Who it’s for
Especially useful for beginners, and valuable whenever an experienced student is learning a new combination.
What to expect
Pattern work at a manageable pace, clear cues, and repetition until movement and guard stay connected.

Training activity

Bag rounds

Heavy-bag work that lets you build power, pace and combination endurance.

What it involves

You apply the session’s techniques on the heavy bag through timed rounds. Focus can shift between clean mechanics, sustained output, power shots and finishing combinations.

Who it’s for
Every level; the combination length and work rate scale to your experience and conditioning.
What to expect
Timed rounds, active recovery and coaching on distance, impact, posture and returning safely to stance.

Training activity

Clinch work

Close-range Muay Thai built around posture, control, balance and safe entries.

What it involves

Partner drills cover hand position, frames, posture, turns, off-balancing and controlled knee entries. Technique comes before strength so both partners can learn safely.

Who it’s for
Students ready for supervised partner work; drills are adapted for size and experience.
What to expect
Close-range rounds with clear boundaries, frequent resets and corrections on position and balance.

Training activity

Conditioning

Fight-ready engine work programmed by an ISSA-certified strength and conditioning coach.

What it involves

Strength, power and repeat-effort work support the demands of striking rounds. Sessions connect athletic qualities to faster hands, heavier kicks and the ability to keep working.

Who it’s for
All levels, with exercise choice, load and volume adjusted to training age and current capacity.
What to expect
Purposeful intervals and strength work—not random exhaustion—with attention to movement quality and recovery.

Training activity

Sparring

Controlled live rounds where timing, defence and fight IQ are tested with a partner.

What it involves

Students apply trained skills in supervised, responsive exchanges. The aim is learning and control: reading movement, choosing techniques and staying composed.

Who it’s for
Students with enough fundamentals for safe live work and coach approval; it is not a first-class requirement.
What to expect
Clear intensity rules, matched partners, protective equipment, coached rounds and immediate resets when control slips.

Fight Engine

Build the conditioning to pressure, recover, and keep your weapons sharp when the round gets ugly.

$149 Founding 20 price · one-time program access

The failure point

Your skill means nothing if your engine shuts down.

This is conditioning built around combat demands—not random suffering dressed up as fight preparation.

For fighters who gas out

You look sharp early, then your feet slow, your guard drops, and every decision costs more. Build repeatable power and recover between exchanges.

For coaches who need a system

Stop stitching together hard sessions with no progression. Follow a clear eight-week conditioning structure you can understand and execute.

Eight-week phase map

Load. Build. Pressure. Peak.

Four focused sessions per week. Every phase develops the next layer of your fight engine.

Week 01Baseline

Test the engine. Set pace, output, and recovery markers.

Week 02Base

Build repeatable aerobic work without losing sharpness.

Week 03Capacity

Raise the amount of quality work you can own.

Week 04Capacity+

Hold power through longer, controlled fight intervals.

Week 05Pressure

Blend fatigue with footwork, output, and clean mechanics.

Week 06Repeat power

Attack hard efforts. Recover. Produce again.

Week 07Fight specific

Match the rhythm, density, and decision cost of rounds.

Week 08Peak + test

Drop fatigue, sharpen the weapon, and prove the change.

Day 1

Aerobic power + skill-safe volume

Day 2

Strength endurance + trunk integrity

Day 3

Repeat-sprint ability + recovery

Day 4

Fight-round conditioning + test pieces

Robson Etuke Diamond

Robson is a Muay Thai competitor, CPT / S&C coach, ISSA Strength and Conditioning certified, and a HYROX coach. He coaches boxing, Muay Thai, and strength and conditioning at Unity Fitness Harbourfront and Triumph Muay Thai.

This is not bodybuilding with gloves on. The work is organized around what fighters actually need: pace, repeatable power, recovery, and clean output under fatigue.

Booking & rates

Rates depend on the format — group class, private coaching, or a full training block — so they're quoted on request. No pressure, no surprises: tell us what you're training for and you'll get a straight answer and a plan that fits it.

Questions, answered

Everything new students usually ask before their first session.

I've never trained before. Can I start?

Yes — that's exactly what Beginner Foundations is for. You'll learn stance, guard, footwork and the basic strikes step by step, at your pace. Most people who train with Robson walked in as complete beginners.

What do I need to bring?

Workout clothes, a water bottle and a towel. If you own boxing gloves and hand wraps, bring them. If you don't, mention it in your message when you book and we'll sort you out for your first sessions.

Where do sessions take place?

Robson coaches out of Unity Fitness Harbourfront and Triumph Muay Thai in Toronto. Exact location and times for private sessions are confirmed when you book — ask through the live Primitive Combat Facebook page in Contact.

What's the difference between Muay Thai and boxing?

Boxing is the hands — jab, cross, hooks, uppercuts, plus head movement and footwork. Muay Thai, the "art of eight limbs," adds kicks, knees, elbows and the clinch. Primitive Combat sessions train both, so your striking is complete.

Do you offer private training?

Yes. Private one-on-one coaching is available by appointment for technique work, conditioning, or full fight preparation. Ask through the live Primitive Combat Facebook page in Contact — rates are quoted on request.

I'm training for a fight. Can you coach that?

That's home turf. Robson competes in Muay Thai himself, so fight preparation covers technical game-planning, hard conditioning, and the mental side of fight camp — built around your bout date.

How do I book or ask about rates?

Use the live Primitive Combat Facebook page. Tell us what you're training for and you'll get times and a straight rate quote back.
